Emma Welsh works for Invaluable and reached out to me with a fantastic infographic she helped create on creatives’ signatures and how the details of their autographs can give clues to their personalities. She and I both think that greeting card, snail mail, and stationery lovers like you would love to hear more about this fascinating relationship! Here’s Emma:
Graphology, the study of handwriting, is such a fascinating concept. In fact, there are entire museums and exhibits dedicated to the craft, studying the likes of hand drawn letters from Queen Victoria, signed images from Frida Kahlo, and many others. That’s because the way a person writes and signs their name reveals much about their personality and perception of the world around them. Everything from the slant of letters to the embellishments added to each character has an underlying meaning.
Invaluable gathered some of the most interesting signatures from famous creatives over the last centuries to determine their meanings and how they have been reflected in their lives and works. Check them out below and compare them to your own signature!
Pretty great right? I admit, I probably spent too much time dissecting my own signature to figure out what my underlying perspective on life is…
What about you? Give your signature a study and let me know in the comments below who you most resemble. Thanks Emma for the great read!
